Hi, Teri... this is Elly, Mary Tralongo's partner. I would love to meet your guys someday, and would be interested in volunteering in some capacity with any of the programs you are involved in. I worked as a volunteer for the Special Olympics as a teenager; with Parents with Hearts in my 20s; and have worked in two group homes as a care provider for a young man with fagileX syndrom, one who was autistic, and with four older women with various physical and emotional disabilities. I adored my "boys" and enjoyed the women tremendously. Let me know if you can think of anywhere I might be of use! :o)

How nice to see the 2nd floor of the house peeking through the trees. It makes me happy to see "Teri's House"starting to take shape. Can't wait to see you guys settled in, and enjoying what you have dreamed of for so long. Hope this crazy weather ends soon so progress can move along. On a selfish note, I can't wait for the big house to be done so MAYBE work on the girls house can start. Can't think of a better place to let Ally "grow up". Best wishes for a fast and uncomplicated completion to house #1.

It is so important to build a home for young men with Down Syndrome. The need is rising for places for these young men to live. Parents are aging and people with Down syndrome are living longer due to advances in medicine and the better health care available to them. I am happy to say that my son is on the waiting list and hopefully when the time arises and I need a home for him, this will be available. It makes me nervous to think of me dying and with him having no where to go. I pray that this will lead to the construction of more homes that will benefit people with Down syndrome.

I have known Teri for almost 23 years,as old as my son with Down Syndrome is. She was one of my 1st contacts.I admire her strenght and conviction that she has to raising her 4 boys, and to others that have Down Syndrome. She has given these boys a very loving and wonderful home. I also might add a very actve life for the boys. Teris House is long overdue. My son Nicholas is on the waiting list. It scares me to think of what will happen to my son when my husband and I are gone. There is a need for more group homes to be built in this area and you can start with Teris House.S
